A vehicle sheared a hydrant on Fairview Road and Scott Avenue late Friday evening, causing water to gush onto the street.
Emergency services were called to the accident at 11:19 p.m. finding huge amounts of water coming from the hydrant. Firefighters jumped into action to hep divert water from homes while waiting for a crew from the City of Penticton to shut off the water.
A witness at the scene said an SUV hit a stop sign before hitting the hydrant.
