It appears to be a controlled burn on a hillside on Penticton Indian Band land taking place Monday afternoon.

Around 2:45 p.m., flames could be seen as far away as Value Village in Penticton, causing some to take to social media asking what is on fire.

The flames appeared to be controlled and there weren’t any fire trucks visible at the burn.

PIB fire department confirmed that is a controlled slash fire.
