Flying out of Penticton? Check your flight status

Penticton Airport encouraging guests to check airline websites for flight status due to winter storm

Weather conditions have cancelled and flights out of the Penticton airport.

“Flights last night had cancellations because it had been snowing since the early evening. It is a bit too early to tell if some of the afternoon flights will be cancelled as well, but we are really encouraging people to check their flights online or by using the airline apps because updates will be provided there,” said Kerri Haybittle-Raffel, general manager of the Penticton Airport.

Air Canada flights departing Penticton to Vancouver at 6 a.m. and 10:05 a.m. were cancelled this morning. The Air Canada flight leaving at 7:10 p.m. is showing on time, but due to conditions in Vancouver that could be changed.

WestJet has issued travel advisories for those travelling to and from Nanaimo, Comox, Vancouver, Abbotsford and Victoria due to the winter storm system. WestJet flights arriving to Penticton are all showing on time, as are departures.

“Our guys are working hard at keeping the airport open and keeping on top of monitoring the weather. Definitely online is where people should be going to check their flight status or using their airlines apps,” said Haybittle-Raffel.
