Highway 33 is getting some resurfacing work done this summer thanks to a $1.77-million contract to Arrowsmith Road Maintenance awarded by the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure.
The work is taking place between Rock Creek and Beaverdell and expected to begin in early June. Site preparation is currently underway.
“Highway 33 is an important artery for motorists between Boundary Country and the Okanagan,” said Linda Larson, Boundary-Similkameen MLA, in a press release. “This project will improve safety and extend the lifespan of the road surface.”
Sealcoating is a cost-effective method of resurfacing that extends the life of the road by selling out moisture. It also provides a skid-resistant, dust-free driving surface while reducing maintenance costs.
The work is expected to be complete by the end of July.
The project is part of B.C. on the Move, the new 10-year plan from the government focused on the improvement of the province’s transportation network.
Over the next three years, the Minsitry of Transportation and Infrastructure is investing almost $2.5 billion to improve B.C.’s transportation network.
