It was rabbit season — rather, it was rabbit egg season — as young Penticton children hunted for Easter eggs at LocoLanding and the SS Sicamous midday on Monday.
The eighth annual Easter egg hunt at LocoLanding and the SS Sicamous laid a more than 10,000 eggs, according to LocoLanding owner Diana Sterling.
“It’s a big event to put on, but it’s such an amazing community — it’s a community event that kicks off the spring for us,” Sterling said. “We have over 50 teenagers between LocoLanding staff, as well as the local swim club, KISU Swim Club has donated their time to volunteer Thursday to put this on, and that is the most amazing thing.”
Children were let loose by the dozens in the green space beside LocoLanding, as well as inside the SS Sicamous, to scour the area for Easter eggs.
On top of the egg hunt, children could do a bean bag toss, test their balancing skills with fake eggs on spoons, play with bubbles, dance to some music, sit in the fire truck and tour the SS Sicamous.
“It’s been a fantastic turnout today,” Stirling said. “The sun came out, and so did the people.”
