Kelowna RCMP investigating auto shop fire as arson

A fire destroyed PM Automotive on May 26

Kelowna RCMP are investigating an auto shop fire from Sunday as arson.

PM Automotive sits in ashes after a fire swallowed the business the morning of May 26.

The Kelowna Fire Department was called to the auto shop at 1950 Kent Rd. around 9:20 a.m.

Heavy smoke and large flames could be seen coming from the east side and the roof of the building.

Firefighters fought the blaze throughout the morning, using a ladder and hose to extinguish flames from above.

Kelowna RCMP, BC Ambulance Service, and FortisBC also responded to the scene.

A witness on scene told Capital News the fire was started by a transient next to the building that quickly became out of control, but that information has yet to be confirmed.

Police are asking anyone who witnesses the arson or has dash camera footage from the 1900-block of Kent Road between 8:30 a.m. and 9:15 a.m. on May 26 to come forward and reference file number 2024-28135.
