Land issues top Penticton council agenda

Land issues top agenda for Penticton City Council's regular meeting tonight

Tonight’s Penticton City Council meeting gets underway with a public hearing for the rezoning of a property at 3039 Skaha Lake Road from high density residential to general commercial.

The official meeting starts with a presentation from the Interior Health Authority on the role of community in health promotion, before council gets back to land issues with the consideration of a contested variance for a residential property on Three Mile Road.

Council is also expected to proceed with the establishment of an oversight sub-committee to keep an eye on costs and schedules as the west Okanagan Lake waterfront rehabilitation project gets underway.

Other issues on the agenda include appointing a staff member to be responsible for administering the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, reconsidering and updating bylaws regarding fire and life safety for new buildings and dedicating a section of Main Street to Captain Jonathan Snyder, who died in 2008 in Afghanistan.

Council meets at 6 p.m. on Feb. 4 in council chambers at 100 Main St. A full agenda is available online.
