LETTERS: Define the terms of garbage

I would be highly offended by someone digging through my recycle bin and coming to my door.

The article on recycling (Western News, March 30, Budget boost for garbage education) is incomprehensible. I suggest that the city’s education project should start with themselves.

First, they should define their terms. What are the contaminants in the “recycling stream?” The figures given in percentage seem to indicate that less is better, but in kilograms more is better. Who is going to measure them, anyway? What are diversion rates? Define “plastic wrap.” What are we supposed to do with magazines if we can’t recycle them?

I would be highly offended by someone digging through my recycle bin and coming to my door to tell me I’m “contaminating the recycling stream,” or whatever!
