A man was ordered to pay a fine after kicking in the window of a downtown Penticton business.
Michael Travis Mahoney, 36, pleaded guilty to one count of mischief and one count of breaching probation in provincial court in Penticton Wednesday.
Judge Meg Shaw sentenced Mahoney to pay a total of $1,526.24, with a fine of $500 for each charge and the restitution payment of $526.24 for the cost of replacing the window. Mahoney was also sentenced to 12 months probation.
On July 21 a witness reported he was threatened by a man who was drunk and belligerent in downtown Penticton. Police attended and found Mahoney with a laceration on his calf muscle and the window broken at K Banks Travel around 2:45 a.m.
Mahoney was sent to the hospital and received several stitches on his leg. After being released in July, Mahoney eventually failed to report to his bail supervisor after leaving to find work in Alberta, which Judge Shaw called a “stupid decision.”
Mahoney was ordered not to attend within 15 metres of 206 Main St.
