A community mailbox in Twin Lakes has been shot at and driven into but nobody knows why and police aren’t saying anything either.

There was a police presence around the then undamaged mailboxes at Grand Oro and White Lake Road on Monday, March 21. Police tape surrounded the boxes for most of the day.

Residents in the area took to Facebook groups saying that someone tried to blow up the mailboxes. That hasn’t been confirmed by police.

The police tape was taken down and then once the police had left, it appears someone smashed a vehicle into the mailboxes, crushing the newspaper boxes beside and taking one of the blocks of mailboxes off its footing. The middle bank of boxes are now open and empty but it’s unknown if there was any mail stolen.

The Western News has made repeated attempts to get information from the Penticton RCMP since Monday but they have not responded by publication on Thursday.

There are clear bullet holes on the mailboxes and someone posted a picture of burn marks on another part of the mailbox.
