The souvenir program for this Wednesday’s Pics & Sticks NHL Alumni charity hockey game at the South Okanagan Events Centre reads like any coach’s dream and a talent scout’s as well.

The game will pit the Edmonton Oilers alumni members, including honorary alumni and Canadian country music star Gord Bamford against the NHL Alumni that has its own Canadian music star, Vancouver-based Aaron Pritchett.

Two other country musicians, Dallas Smith and Chad Brownlee will also lace up the blades for the NHL alumni.

Suiting up for the Oilers NLH alumni squad will include the likes of former NHLers Garth Butcher, Glenn Anderson, Chris Joseph and Marty McSorley

Ron Low will be behind the bench for the club with help from assistant coach Bob McCammon.

Larry Meinyk and netminder Eddie Mio will also be in the line up in the game which will be refereed by former Vancouver

Canuck great Darcy Rota.

The NHLers will field some big names as well, Dave Babych, Geoff Courtnall, Greg Adams, Kirk McLean, Bob Bourne and Cliff Ronning will all be in the line up.

Hosted by Bamford and Edmonton Oilers alumni and former NHL player Kevin Primeau, now an Osoyoos realtor, the hockey game is just part of the two-day event which runs Wednesday and Thursday.

Other components of the fundraiser, which benefits a number of charities.

A special event at the game will be the presentation of two, $1,000 bursaries in memory of two of the members of the Humboldt Broncos, Logan Hunter and Jaxon Joseph killed in last year’s tragic accident.

Making the presentations will be Chris Joseph, Jaxon’s father and Logan Hunter’s step mother, Ginny Hunter.

The bursaries are to help young people who have some connection to junior hockey in the South Okanagan, further their education.
