Oliver RCMP have charged a 78-year-old Oliver man under the Wildlife Act as well as the Hunting Regulations for illegally shooting a deer in a residential neighbourhood last weekend.

Several firearms were seized and police will be pursuing a firearms prohibition, said Oliver RCMP Sgt. Don Wrigglesworth.

Oliver RCMP and BC Conservation Officers were investigating the discharge of a firearm this past weekend on Morningstar Road where a deer had been shot.

According to Wrigglesworth, a man was taken into custody and was cooperative with police. Firearms were seized from a residence.

Morningstar Road is a residential area of Oliver.
