A Penticton intersection looks a lot different than it did a couple of weeks ago because of the city’s lake-to-lake bike lane project.
The intersection of Atkinson Street and Kinney Avenue, near Cherry Lane Mall, now features a three-way stop after the city largely completed bike-lane work in the area this month.
The city is asking motorists to take care when travelling through the area, look for the stop signs and “be mindful of the traffic pattern change.”
Line painting for the lake-to-lake bike lane’s second phase began on Sept. 19, with work largely taking place during the evening hours to avoid disruption.
With construction almost complete in the Atkinson and Kinney area, bike lane roadwork will shift to Duncan Avenue between Fairview Road and Main Street.
Work on the second section of the lake-to-lake bike lane is proceeding on schedule and is set to be completed by the end of October, according to the city.
The Atkinson Street Bridge will remain closed during all construction.
