Penticton RCMP are investigating after a man arrested was charged in relation to a forcible confinement and assault of a Summerland man.
Shannon Lee Masuskapoe is facing charges of robbery, assault and forcible confinement relating to events on April 9.
Around 3 p.m. Penticton RCMP received a report from a 57-year-old Summerland man who stated to police he had escaped from being forcibly held for several hours at a Penticton residence. The man alleged he had been forcibly confined, assaulted with a weapon and had cash, identification and his vehicle taken from him by five suspects.
RCMP along with B.C. Ambulance Services immediately attended a condominium complex in the 500 block of Pickering Street, where they located the alleged victim. The man was in serious medical distress and had visible injures when he was found, police said, and BCAS transported him to Penticton Regional Hospital.
RCMP said investigators found evidence to support the allegations at the condominium in question. Within a short time police picked up Masuskapoe, RCMP said.
RCMP said the man was a specific target and not a random individual.
Investigators are continuing their efforts to locate the remaining suspects.
