The South Okanagan Similkameen Medical Foundation has received another $25,000 donation for its oncology clinic.

The donation, from the Penticton Rotary Club, is part of the service organization’s $100,000 pledge.

The medical foundation is working to raise $10 million to help expand the oncology department. This will provide double the space for cancer patients in the region.

According to the medical foundation, one in two people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.

The oncology expansion has earlier received a capital investment of $22 million from local and provincial health bodies.

The project has also received funding from other sources, including $350,000 from the Summerland Health-Care Auxiliary in 2023 and $625,000 from service clubs and businesses in Penticton.
