Penticton’s Channel Parkway connecting Fairview Road and Green Mountain Road is the city’s most accident-prone intersection, according to ICBC.
With a total of 125 crashes over the last five years, including 21 accidents for all of 2021, the site was tabbed as the riskiest in a recent list released by the insurance company.
Main Street and Warren Avenue was listed second, recording a total of 85 accidents since 2017.

Kinney Avenue and South Main Street, meanwhile, featured 17 crashes over the last five years. The city is looking to internally borrow $2 million to fix the “awkward” site, which staff previously described as a traffic bottleneck.
ICBC logged the most accidents in 2021 alone at the following five Penticton intersections:
• Channel Parkway and Fairview Road and Green Mountain Road (21)
• Main Street and Industrial Avenue (18)
• Main Street and Warren Avenue (18)
• Eckhardt Avenue and Westminister Avenue (17)
• Channel Parkway and Warren Avenue (15)
In comparison to other Okanagan communities from 2017 to 2021, Penticton’s most accident-prone intersections recorded fewer crashes than those in Summerland and Vernon.
The five most accident-prone intersections in the Southern Interior are all in Kelowna, with Dilworth Drive and Harvey Avenue seeing a total of 113 crashes in 2021 alone.
Four of the six riskiest intersections in Penticton, from 2017 to 2021, involve the Channel Parkway, according to ICBC.
