RCMP investigate homicide at Sicamous Best Western

Forensics Identification, Kelowna Major Crimes also on scene Feb. 24

There was a heavy police presence at the Best Western in Sicamous Saturday evening as RCMP were investigating a homicide.

Sgt. Murray McNeil said that just before 5 p.m. on Feb. 24, officers arrived to find one person dead in the parking lot of the hotel, and confirmed it was a homicide.

Just after 6 p.m., RCMP Forensic Identification Services arrived, as well as the Kelowna Major Crimes Unit, which will be conducting the investigation.

“We have no suspect, but it appears to be targeted,” McNeil said.

He was unable to give further details, but Sicamous residents took to the Rant and Rave Facebook page to report hearing shots fired around 5 p.m.

McNeil said a full report will likely be available on Sunday, with more details expected at that time.
