RCMP to address crime in Oliver area

A community meeting has been scheduled by the RCMP to discuss crime and the fear of crime in the Oliver area.

Oliver RCMP is inviting the residents of Oliver and area to attend a community safety forum on Feb. 29 at 7 p.m. at the Oliver Community Center.

Sgt. Blaine Gervais, Oliver Detachment Commander, Supt. Kevin Hewco, officer in charge of the Penticton South Okanagan-Simikameen Regional Detachment, Staff Sgt. Kirsten Marshall, NCO in charge of South Okanagan-Simikameen Regional Detachment, and Rick Dellebuur, South Okanagan-Simikameen Crime Stoppers and Community Policing Coordinator will be in attendance.

RCMP said the focus of the meeting will be to discuss the recent crime in the area, what is being done and how the community can work with the RCMP to further reduce and prevent crime and the fear of crime in the Oliver area.
