The Town of Osoyoos today (Sept. 1) announced the final day for fishing Salmon in Osoyoos Lake will be September 7.
According to the town, Okanagan Sockeye will be entering the Okanagan River to spawn in mid-September.
The stoppage will come into effect one hour after sunset on September 7.
The Town noted that no fishing for anadromous Salmon in Skaha Lake is allowed. Kokanee and Sockeye are present in this lake, and vary in size, and fishing enthusiasts are encouraged to see the local provincial regulations for size restrictions.
In addition, single barbless hooks are required for fishing Salmon in non-tidal waters of B.C., as well as a Non-Tital Angling Licence.
