A Chase resident got a rude awakening when he found a stranger in bed with him.

Just after 2 a.m. on May 3, the RCMP responded to a break and enter in progress on Kamloops-Shuswap Road.

“The caller reported that a man entered his house and woke him up – by crawling into bed beside him,” Const. Sarah Van Wilgenburg said in a media release. “The man was very drunk but the caller managed to remove him from the house.”

When officers arrived, they found the intruder, a 26-year-old man from Chase, lying on the side of the road. He was arrested, but the victim didn’t pursue charges so the man was released from custody into the care of a sober friend.
