A teenage Summerland girl fought off a male who is alleged to have assaulted and attempted to abduct her.

A teenage Summerland girl fought off a male who is alleged to have assaulted and attempted to abduct her.

RCMP said at 2 p.m. on Friday a 13-year-old girl was walking on a trail near Victoria Road North and Julia Street. The girl said an Aboriginal male came up from behind and grabbed her by the hand while she was walking west bound on the trail.

"The female attempted to pull away and the male slapped her once in the face. The female screamed and the male ran off east bound on the trail," said Const. Richard Schuhmacher.

The alleged attacker is described as a 30-to-40 year old Aboriginal male, approximately six feet tall, 175 pounds, scarring or pockmarked over his entire face and was wearing a black sweater, black cotton pants and runners.
