Suspected laundry thief arrested

RCMP have arrested a man allegedly in connection with a rash of thefts from laundry machines in Penticton apartments and motels.

RCMP have arrested a man suspected of a rash of thefts from laundry machines in Penticton apartments and motels.

Sgt. Rick Dellebuur said David Frederick Martin, 42, was arrested on Nov. 23.

"Between Nov. 6 and Nov. 23 the Penticton RCMP responded to 28 complaints of attempted or completed thefts of change from coin-operated laundry machines in apartments and motel buildings within the Penticton area," said Dellebuur.

RCMP had a description of a man suspected in the thefts from laundry machines after he was caught on video from one of the buildings that had been hit.

Martin will appear in court next on Dec.7 charged with theft, mischief, break and enter and possession of instruments used for breaking into coin operated device or a currency exchange device.
