The driver of a tractor-trailer unit escaped with minor injuries after the vehicles tire blew out causing the driver to lose control.

The 58-year-old Delta resident driving the truck just south of Oliver last Friday went off-road, rolled into an orchard and destroyed approximately 30 fruit trees on the property. Cpl. Mike Field said both the vehicle and trailer are believed to be unsalvageable. A utility pole sheared off during the incident causing some disruptions to power and phone service. Utility crews were active most of the morning restoring both power and phone service to area residents.

Field said no charges have been laid at this time and the matter is still under investigation.
