The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure said debris from around the truck was removed Thursday afternoon.

It isn’t a stick in the mud on Taggart Crescent near Twin Lakes, it’s Sandy Brown’s truck.
Brown’s mom Coral Brown sent a picture to the Penticton Western News of her son’s truck which got caught in a mudslide on Taggart Crescent just north of the Twin Lakes store off of Highway 3A on March 22. Records for rainfall were exceeded that day in some parts of the South Okanagan experiencing a downpour of 25 millimetres in a three hour period.

“He was visiting a friend and the friend said don’t come down the driveway because it’s soft because of all the water. So, he parked up top. He was only there about a half hour and they noticed water running down. They went out, saw the water coming down and looked up and saw the mud coming down right where his truck was parked,” she said.
He along with his friend thought at first they could dig the mud accumulating around the truck by hand, but it started to come down too quickly, making it impossible to move the vehicle.
It’s been almost a week and the truck is still there, Coral reports.
Coral said the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure has been out assess the situation and had heavy equipment on site Wednesday morning.

But as of Wednesday afternoon the vehicle wasn’t completely dug out.
“They came this morning and plowed alongside it and in front of it, but maybe they need different equipment? There’s still stuff coming down and the water is still coming down,” she said.
Coral said that Toy Creek overflowed and caused the mudslide.
