Summerland residents should have their power back on after approximately two thirds of the community lost power early Wednesday morning.
The transformer causing all the trouble was repaired by FortisBC crews around 2 p.m. according to FortisBC, and the District of Summerland is reporting that a majority of their customers are back online.
"We definitely want to thank everyone for their patience. I understand it's been a hot day and I want to thank everyone that stuck with us for that time,” said Michael Allison, spokesperson for FortisBC.
FortisBC crews are staying on site to monitor the repaired transformer and make sure it stays up and running. The circuits will be phased in slowly and if a resident isn't getting their power back yet, it's a matter of time according to the district.
District crews are now working on getting the residences rerouted to the Trout Creek substation back on their normal substation as well.
A portable substation will stay on site in case of another outage occurring.
