A woman was airlifted by helicopter to Kelowna Friday afternoon after suffering serious injuries in an ATV accident near Greyback Lake northeast of Penticton.

Penticton and District Search and Rescue was called to assist by the B.C. Ambulance Service about 5:30 p.m. after being contacted by one of the group of 10 riders.

Although not believed to be life threatening, the 41-year-old woman's injuries were serious enough and due to the time of day, it was decided to enlist the services of Eclipse Helicopters of Penticton.

After being picked up the victim was flown to a field in Kelowna where she was  transported by ambulance to Kelowna General Hospital.

The victim's identity and condition were not available.
