In Loving Memory (1942-2023) ~
On Sunday, August 6, 2023, our beautiful mother, Anna Elisabeth VanDijk McIvor flew free from this life. As expected, we are gutted. It is hard to find the words of what to say but then, we don't need many to describe how wonderful she was. Those who had the privilege of knowing her, already know.
For those who didn't get the opportunity to meet Anna, you can be assured of the following:
Anna was brave and resilient. She was prone to teasing and playing jokes and, loved to make everyone around her happy. Anna was fun-loving, adventurous and always ready to try something new. She was a creative soul who loved the arts and did her best to help everyone around her love them too.
Anna loved community, being a part of it and was dedicated to her time with Emergency Social Services (ESS). She was a great Mom & Oma, and not just to her daughters and granddaughters but also to all who needed her—and there are many near and far. She genuinely loved all the people in her life, and she would have loved every one of you too.
Let's have Anna give us a reason to gather one more time for good conversations and friendship. Bring a coffee; bring a chair. Stay for a minute; stay for an hour, come for Anna.
On September 16, between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm meet us beside the Japanese Gardens at Marina Way Park.
In lieu of flowers and cards, please take some time to appreciate your family and friends—especially those living with memory loss, dementia, and Alzheimer's.
Donations can be made in her name to the Penticton Multicultural Society, Penticton Academy of Music & Dramatic Art, or the Art Gallery.
As is the usual, (but good advice in my book), give extra hugs to the ones you love. Life is unexpected as here I am, sharing such a message as this.
