November 5, 1930 – May 31, 2016

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Bev McKinnon. Born November 5, 1930 in Vancouver, BC, Bev is predeceased by Burr McKinnon, her loving husband and best friend of nearly 60 years.

Bev grew up in Vernon, BC and later attended Vancouver Normal School where she earned her teaching certificate. She began her teaching career in Enderby, moving along to Cranbrook and then Langley, where she met her future husband, Burr. As Bev and Burr followed their teaching careers, she also taught in Vernon, Hazelton, Kaleden and Penticton, where she eventually retired after working as a part time librarian at Parkway Elementary School.

Bev and Burr really felt that Penticton was home to them and were very connected to the Penticton community where they enjoyed playing bridge and golf with their many friends. Bev loved being around people and found enjoyment in hosting many BBQ’s with Burr at their home on Skaha Lake, where they lived for many years.

Bev will be remembered by all as a fun loving parent and friend with a great (and sometimes sharp) sense of humor. Above all, it was clear Bev took great pride in being a Grandmother, making a large impact in the lives of her seven grandchildren. One of the highlights of the year was visiting her children and grandchildren in Kaleden during the summer months.

Bev is survived by her three children; Lynn (Bill), Brian (Rita), and Sharon (Alan), and seven grandchildren, Richard, Ryan, Ross, Reed, Rebecca, Erin and Kelly.

We would like to thank the Penticton Regional Hospital and McKinney Place for all of the good care they provided. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Moog and Friends Hospice House ,1701 Government St., Penticton, V2A 8J7 or Penticton Regional Hospital, 550 Carmi Ave., Penticton, V2A 3G6.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the summer.
