In Loving Memory ~
With family by her side, our mom and grandma passed away peacefully on August 24, 2023. It is with great sadness that we announce this.
She is survived by her daughter Tracey Stel (Bill), and her son's Allan Mortensen (Michelle) and Craig Revill (Susan) and grandchildren Cameron, Bradley, Christina, Christopher and Jeff, Sister Marilyn and brother Ron (Donna) and her nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents Wilfred and Elizabeth Emsley.
Mom was born in Vancouver and then as a child moved with her family to Lillooet, Fernie, North Vancouver and then back to Vancouver where she went to high school at Lord Byng Secondary. She met her former husband and they settled in Richmond and this is where the children were raised. Her working life included the Bank of Nova Scotia Data Centre and administration at the Quilchena Golf Club and later the Condominium Home Owners Association of BC.
She spent many many hours at the rinks in Richmond and in the lower mainland when the kids were growing up as they played hockey and figure skated. In 1987 mom moved to Burnaby and then in 2000 she moved to Penticton to be near Tracey and her family.
Mom loved to spend time with the family and with all the family pets. She always carried cookies in her pockets for the dogs that she'd visit or see on her walks. She liked to bake and made delicious treats. She enjoyed camping, travelling and playing games with her friends and family.
She loved following almost every sport it seemed: her favorites being hockey, figure skating, curling, football, baseball and tennis. She was a true Vancouver Canucks fan -she always remained optimistic through all the ups and downs. She had a competitive spirit, loved to swim and to dance.
She dabbled in all kinds of crafts, knitting and sewing. Mom was a great listener and thoroughly enjoyed chatting with her grandchildren and hearing all about what they were up to - She was very proud of them all.
A very special thank-you to Dr. Jennifer Begin for your kindness and for taking great care of our mom, all of the wonderful caregivers at Village by the Station where mom lived for the last few months and the kind and compassionate care of the doctors, nurses and staff at the Penticton Regional Hospital.
