August 3, 1937 - October 20, 2018
Dick Calkins passed away in his home in Penticton, British Columbia on October 20, 2018, weakened by cancer at the age of 81 years.

Dick was born August 3rd, 1937 at home in what was known as the chicken coop on the family farm in Cloverdale. He graduated from UBC and completed his articling in 1963. He began working as a Chartered Accountant for Revenue Canada in Whitehorse and then Edmonton. He was a Controller for an engineering firm in Vancouver after which he started private practice in Osoyoos and then Penticton. He was an active volunteer and was a past President of the Osoyoos Credit Union in the 1970s and then as Board Member and National Vice President for The Society of Community Living.

Dick's passing was preceded by that of his wife of 25 years, Joanne, in 2017. Dick is survived by his four children, Rick, Karen, Dana and Laura, as well as five grandchildren, Kayla, Jocelyn, Nicole, Alexander and Curtis and sister Peggy (Margaret) and brother Frank.

We are saddened as we grieve for our father and grandfather; that he is no longer suffering is a comfort.

Celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, November 14th at 1 pm at Providence Funeral Home, 1258 Main St, Penticton, BC V2A 5G1.

In lieu of flowers, if you wish to donate to the Free Mason Society that transported him to the Cancer Clinic daily in Kelowna donations may be made to: The Masonic Community Charities Fund (Cancer Car Program) Canadian Charitable Registration No. 890909443RR0001, 1495 West Eighth Avenue Vancouver, BC V6H 1C9 Canada.
