August 7, 1947 - September 8, 2023
In Loving Memory ~
It is with deep sadness that the family of Don Grewcutt announces his sudden passing on September 8, 2023, in Penticton, at the age of 76.
Don was born on August 7, 1947, in Bowness, Calgary to James and Janet Grewcutt.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, his sister Joyce Grewcutt, his brother Jim Grewcutt, his sister Joan Grewcutt, and his mother-in-law Margaret Caldwell.
On June 26, 1976, Don married the love of his life Cathy Caldwell in Penticton and they were together for 47 years until his passing.
Don is survived by his wife Cathy Grewcutt; Children James Grewcutt (Caroline) and Jenelle Grewcutt; Granddaughters Cameron Grewcutt, Adelyn Grewcutt and Carys Grewcutt; Siblings Darlene Halsall and Brian Grewcutt (Dorothy); Best Friend Doug Burlingame (Burly); Special Niece Sarah Morgan; As well as many other special nieces and nephews who he loved very much.
Don was a family-oriented man who was generous with his time and wisdom. He was a loving and proud Father to his kids and was so proud of his beautiful and amazing Granddaughters. He had a great sense of humor that always kept those around him laughing, especially when he took his glasses off to wipe the laughing tears away. After he attended and graduated from Bowness High School, he made his way to Penticton, BC.
His early Penticton years of work began at Alcock and Downing, Morgans Plumbing and Heating, Western Supplies, and he entered retirement from B.A. Robinson as a purchasing agent.
Don was an active member of the Penticton Elks (lodge #51) for 50+ years, where he ran the Tuesday night crib and more recently Monday and Wednesday crib night as well. He enjoyed gardening, Scrabble, beating everyone at board games, music non-stop in the backyard, coaching and fundraising for his kids different sports, and heading off to the Calgary Stampede every year to spend time with family. There are lots of stories and memories with a wonderful group of lifetime friends.
Thank you for your friendships.
Don had far-reaching arms and was supportive of everyone. We will love, honor and miss him forever.
"Love you further than Pluto and back-"
A service will be held for Don in Penticton in the Spring of 2024. And a recognition for Don will be held in Bowness the Summer of 2024.
