Gord passed away at noon, Feb. 28 at the age of 81 yrs. He was born in Sydney River, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia but left there at age 17. He spent 8 years in the air force, 2 of them in France, and then worked as a heavy duty mechanic on locomotives in Winnipeg, logging equipment in logging camps in BC, and engineered seiners in the salmon and roe herring fisheries. He taught himself how to fiberglass and designed and built several small boats and then he became interested in model aircraft and built fiberglass model airplane kits and components.
Gord had a great sense of humour, liked to tell jokes and could find humour in everyday,
ordinary situations. He liked to talk to people, learn about them and share interesting stories of his life. After retirement, he spent many happy hours walking along Penticton creek with his little dog Daisy.
Gord is predeceased by his son Kyle who died Feb. 13, 2013 and is survived by wife Linda, children Brendan, Kelly and Bevin and grandchildren Aiden, Nadia and Owen.
There will be no service as per his wishes.
