In loving memory ~

With sadness in our hearts, we announce the passing of Richard Fuhr on September 17, 2023, at the age of 88 years in Penticton. He will be dearly missed by the many friends, family, employees and community members, both in Alberta and British Columbia.

Richard was known as a successful businessman who contributed greatly to his community and he appreciated the people who shared his love of life. Whether it was an invitation to play golf, take in a sports event such as a hockey game, football game, car racing, deep-sea fishing travel adventures by boat and coach, flip pancakes, or join in friends and family gatherings, he gladly accepted. In Richard's early years, he passed around the puck, kicked a ball on the pitch, hit a few homers, picked up some techniques from a wrestling pro, and loved to shake a leg on the dance floor. This passion for life spilled over in his business and charitable pursuits. Richard was a big supporter of local sports teams, including the Spruce Grove Mets Junior Hockey Club, Canadian Centennial Cup Champions as General Manager and the Spruce Grove Cougars minor football club.

Richard began his working career as a contracted gravel truck driver at Beach Corner, west of Edmonton, which evolved into becoming a successful Ford Franchise Dealer for over 50 years, winning many achievement awards and travel trips around the world.

Richard was proud to sponsor the local sports team, the Spruce Grove Mets and He participated in many community organizations, guiding others as President of the Lions Club Spruce Grove Chapter, President of the Spruce Grove and District Chamber of Commerce, Town Councillor, Chairman of the County of Parkland Regional Recreation Council, Church Council Member and was instrumental in the Town's residential, commercial, and industrial growth. In 1983, Richard moved to Penticton, continuing on as Dealer Principal of the new Skaha Ford, embracing the many opportunities the Okanagan Valley has to offer. He continued to support the local charities and in his later years, he took a step back to enjoy life at a more leisurely pace.

Richard is survived by his wife, Sigrun, previous wife Noreen, two daughters Colleen Manning and Joanna Newman (David Newman), step-daughter Lisa Kruk (Michael Kruk), step-son Trevor Broemer (Tonia Blais), grandchildren Bryant Valverde, Montana Valverde, Austin Kruk, Mitchell Kruk, Erika Kruk, Owen Manning, Erin Manning, Breanne Newman, Ryan Newman, Dieter Broemer, Alisa Broemer, and by Richard's sisters Marjorie McGinn (Gerald McGinn), Carol Walker (Jim Walker) and brother John Fuhr.

We shall not forget to mention the many adoring nieces, nephews and cousins who loved him too. Richard was predeceased by parents Philip and Theresa Fuhr.
