December 24, 2020
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Hayhurst on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2020 at the age of 89 with family at his side. He is survived by Carol, his loving wife of 45 years, children; Barbara-Ann (Randy), Terry (Kim), Shannon (Keith), and Jennifer (Rick); brother-in-law Don (Pat) and family as well as grandsons Trevor (Saebom), Derek (Gina) and their dad Arthur; Brycen (Jaclyn), granddaughter Nicole (Anna); extended family Trevor (Maxime), Connor (William), Danielle (Dayo) and three beautiful little great-granddaughters, Emma, Raven and Talyn. A lifelong member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, he will be remembered by his loving church family.
Bob was a true Pentictonite, born in the old Penticton Hospital (now Haven Hill) and living his entire life in Penticton. He graduated from Pen Hi and spent his entire working career at the Penticton Law Courts, retiring from the court Registry after 35 years of service. After retirement Bob and Carol spent many happy years travelling around the world, including Ikeda, Japan where they taught. They learned so much about the culture and fell in love with the people, resulting in lifelong friendships.
We would like to give our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Westby and the caring nurses and staff at Westview Place who made Bob's final days very peaceful. A special thank you to Reverend Colin Cross whose care and support of Bob and his family was and is appreciated.
As the pandemic does not permit gatherings at this time, funeral services and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, donations may be made to St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Penticton in Bob's memory.
