Roberta Darlene Edvall

February 8, 2020

October 24, 1953 - February 8, 2020
With deep sorrow and much love, we mourn the passing of Darlene Edvall, on the morning of February 8, 2020, with her family by her side.
Darlene was born in Wells, BC to Lois McKay (nee Thompson) and Elmer Edvall. She grew up in Penticton, raised her children in Prince George, and moved back to Penticton when she retired. Penticton was always her forever home.
Her unique and varied interests included reading and writing, speculative fiction, murder mysteries, role-playing games, archery, history, heraldry, hockey and figure skating, spending time in her garden, going for long drives, and enjoying good food and good wine. Some of her favourite experiences included meeting Jim Morrison and travelling to Ireland.
Darlene loved fiercely, a true Celtic Wolf. All living things were safe with her. She made art out of paper and leather and yarn and words. She was independent, stubborn; a trailblazer. She was a force of nature, and is terribly missed.
Darlene is survived by her husband Eric Bayrd, children Laurel and Colin, grandchildren Ariel, Caleb, Kiera, and William, and her four cats.
The family would like to thank Darlene's care providers from the Oncology Clinic and Palliative Home Support programs at Penticton Regional Hospital.
In lieu of gifts or flowers, please donate in her name to Canuck Place Children's Hospice.
As per her wishes, there will be no service. A Celebration of Life is being planned.
Sail on, silver girl.
