In Loving Memory ~
It is with heavy hearts that we share the sudden passing of our wonderful mother Sylvia Caroline Fretz (Nee, Hayter/Preston), on January 7th, 2023 at the age of 83.
Mom was happiest with her family around her and being in her garden. Mom blessed each one of our lives with her gift of love and kindness.
She was loved and appreciated by all who knew her, and will be forever missed.
Sylvia is survived by her husband, Norman Fretz of Kaleden; her son Geoff (Jane) Preston of Penticton; her daughter Glenda (Gordon) Derbyshire of West Kelowna and daughter Gloria (Jack) Horning of Kaleden; and her grandchildren Samantha Preston, Shawn (Nadine) Derbyshire, Cameron (Michelyn) Derbyshire, Jonathan Derbyshire, Megan Horning and Marlee Horning.
She is also survived by Norman's children, Jamie Fretz/Stone, Christine Fretz, Richard Fretz, Kevin Fretz, and Lynne Fretz; grandchildren Troy Fretz/Stone, Arin Fretz, Kenton Fretz, Taylor Fretz, Tianna Fretz, Norman Love, Shirley Fretz, Angela McDougall, Peter Edward Fretz, Zeph Fretz, and Kassandra Fretz.
Sylvia also had 10 great-grandchildren.
Sylvia is survived by her siblings, Marvin (Sandy) Hayter, Valerie (Ken) Doty, Ken (Margaret) Hayter, Don (Ilona) Hayter, Daryl (Cynthia) Hayter, Marlene (Mike) Keen, and Sandra (Garry) Ewanchuk, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Mom was predeceased by her parents Cecil and Evelyn Hayter, niece Christina Hayter, nephew Myron Hayter, brother-in-law Dennis Ewanchuk and grandson Aaron Derbyshire.
Celebration of life will be held Saturday, January 14th at 11 a.m. at Linden Gardens, Kaleden.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Salvation Army in honour of our mom.
