Slim passed away peacefully at the Penticton General Hospital at the age of 87.

He is survived by his daughters: Diana Pannell (Dave), Shirley Gartner (Bruce Anderson), sons: Bill (Bev Phipps), and Ron Gartner.

9 grandchildren: Dawn Douglas (Kyle), Ryan Pannell, Dane Gartner (Krystle Campbell), Petra Holler, Anton Holler, Ana Salmon (Cam Salmon), Casey Gartner (Darian Reger), Darcy Gartner and Tristan Gartner.

6 great-grandchildren: Joshua Douglas, Brayden Douglas, Andrew Pannell, Audree Pannell, Sancia Gartner, and Damian Salmon.

Also survived by his wife Laurette Bremault.

Slim was one of 16 children born to Joseph and Catherine Gartner.

He is survived by sisters: Bernadette Blue, Rose Sieben, and Louise Petersen and brother Bob Gartner, sisters-in-law Arlene Gartner, Marie Gartner and Margaret Gartner and brother-in-law Jim Pedrotti, as well as several nephews and nieces.

Slim was a long time resident of Penticton and was known by many. He worked for the City of Penticton as  Foreman for the Parks Department then moving on to his own landscaping business, Slim's Landscaping.

Slim also served one term as Alderman for the City of Penticton. He didn't run for a second term as he couldn't stand all  the "politics" of City Hall.
