In regards to people letting their cats outdoors unsupervised: I awoke this morning to my husband, on his way to work, telling me there’s a dead black cat laying on our neighbour’s lawn. What a great way to start anyone’s day.
So sad this happened, but it did not have to happen. Cats need to be kept indoors regardless of the many excuses I have heard, such as “My cat won’t stay indoors,” or “My cat loves to stay outside.” This cat looks not to have been killed by coyotes, but by some other way.
I lost my cat six years ago due to the fact that he actually snuck out of the house, so I know what the owners of this one will be going through. If you love your cat, please keep it indoors, or if you have to let it out, make sure a family member is outside with it.
If you have to go back into your house, put your cat back inside. There is traffic on our roads, a pet can run out in front of a vehicle so fast that the driver may not have time to slam on their brakes. Let’s keep our pets safe.
