Letter: Dirt on the dirt at the Penticton BMX track

I see it has come to light that the soil used for the proposed BMX track is contaminated to the point that it must now be removed.

I see it has come to light that the soil used for the proposed BMX track is contaminated to the point that it must now be removed.

Mayor Andrew Jakubeit seems to be putting the onus on Grizzly Excavating and the management staff from the BMX society to clean this up.

I am pretty confident that Grizzly did not just start dumping this fill in this location of their own volition. Someone had to give the thumbs up and authorize Grizzly to dump there to use this as fill for the new track I wonder who this could possibly be?

We need to identify the person or persons who authorized this obviously without doing their homework first. This is where the finger of blame should be pointed.

The big question now is whether or not the taxpayers will now be on the hook for the cleanup, and how much it will cost. It seems that with this not-so-magnificent seven, it’s just one thing after another. The next election can’t come soon enough for me.
