Bridget Kemp, in her letter to the editor (Penticton Western News, Speed up on helping the homeless, July 27, ) calls for the city to set up a daily food table at Nanaimo Square for the homeless.
Surely she must know that the Soupateria has been a daily source of hot food for many years. It’s in a good building, not outside, subject to the vagaries of weather. There is also plenty of bread to take away and often fruit and vegetables as well.
Beside the Soupateria, there is a small group that provides regular Monday night meals at Nanaimo Square.
