On behalf of the Penticton and Area Access Society, I want to give a big thank you to the Axel Merckx Granfondo.
This year, we participated in the event again by doing cleanup in Gyro Park. We separated out recyclables from garbage, and were able to generate extra money from returns. As well, we were able to clean up the unwanted used towels from the event, and resell them (by donation) at the market as cleaning cloths for an additional fundraiser.
Thanks to the generosity of the Granfondo organization, we were able to turn our cleanup operation into $1,200 for our charity. Throughout, Axel, Jodi, and their team were wonderful to work with. They manage to keep the mood light and fun, while still keeping the standards high. It is always a joy and a privilege to work with this group.
Special thanks also to volunteer co-ordinator Susan Robinson, for being so supportive. This group truly understands what it means to support local charities and our community.
