Alternatives to just closing schools in the Okanagan Skaha School District

To assist School Division 67 in their efforts to reduce costs, I would like to offer the following suggestions.

Rather than look only at schools to be closed, the administration building on Jermyn Ave. in Penticton should also be considered for closing. Staff could then be relocated to various schools to utilize space created by reduced student numbers.

Administration staff and teacher numbers could also be reviewed, fewer students should mean less support staff.

Salary increases, particularly the $20,000 granted to the division superintendent, should also be rolled back. Fewer students, less work.

Students must remain the top priority. Everyone working for them should be prepared to help out in tough financial times.
