True transparency needed

I have to say I am very concerned having just read the response from Minister Bond and her views on how she expects the prison selection process to be finalized according to the government’s schedule.

My understanding, though maybe not viewed by all, is that the, “chosen one,” may be announced before Pentictonites have their say at referendum time. If this happens, does that then mean we have to accept the proposal? I have grave fears that is exactly what council is hoping for when they voted unanimously to go to the referendum in June, knowing full well the time lines involved here.

If the mayor and council wish to show true transparency ... then take our bid out of the running until after our vote. If it is not meant to be, then so be it. As a lot of people have stated, we are a tourist town, why not spend more money promoting that aspect of our beautiful city instead of a prison.
