Annett places 21st in Ironman World Championship

Jen Annett placed 21st among 173 in the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Chattanooga, Tenn., on Sept. 9 finishing in four hours 39 minutes 55 seconds. Annett completed the 1.2 mile swim in 32:01. Her transition time from swim to bike was 2:09. She completed the 56 mile bike in 2:30:13, needing 1:03 to transition onto the run, which she finished the 13.1 mile distance in 1:34:29. Annett collected 2,997 points for her finish.

In the story Penticton Festival elevates dragon boats published on Sept. 13 in the Western News, it was reported that the Peach City Dragons placed second in the mixed platinum B final. The Peach City Dragons won the final in two minutes 6.10 seconds, ahead of the FLCC Spirit of Renegade, who crossed the line in 2:07.32. The Western News apologizes for this error.

Senior men’s golf

Robin Greer, Ron Murphy, Bill Murray and Ron Ferrier won the Penticton Senior Men’s 4 man waltz with a score of 115 (-25) on Wednesday. Kim Goheen, Mike Crowson, Mike Arnett and Ron Clarke finished with the same score, but finished second on a count back.

Darts league underway

Elks Points were on point taking the early lead in the Penticton and District Dart Association Standings, collecting 21 points. Close behind and tied for second are Clancy’s Snipers and the Barley Mill Dart Bags with 20 points. Roll’n Stones Alley Brats are fourth with 17 points, while the Roll’n Stones Shooting Stars round out the top five with 16 points.
