Athlete of the Week: Harjas Bansoota

Harjas Bansoota plays on hockey for the Elite 15 Okanagan Hockey Academy

Harjas Bansoota understands the importance of a good defence in a hockey lineup, and it’s this smart thinking that has him nominated as this week’s Athlete of the Week.

Bansoota plays hockey for the Elite 15 Okanagan Hockey Academy, but it’s far from his first introduction to the sport.

“I’ve been playing hockey since kindergarten. Played basketball a little in middle school, but likes hockey the best,” said Bansoota. “I love the feeling of the skating, the wind through your face and everything.”

When asked about his biggest achievement in hockey, Bansoota said he was proud to be named best defenceman in the league last year.

“Defence is what I’ve been playing for around five years now, it’s what I like.”
