Eighth-place for Grade 9 Lakers girls

The Pen High Lakers Grade 9 girls basketball team wraps up season in top 10 provincially

The Pen High Lakers Grade 9 girls basketball team finished ninth in provincials in Kelowna Feb. 26-28. The Lakers, seeded third in the championship, lost their final two games to Lord Tweedsmuir and Lord Byng. Co-coach Blair Haddrell said it was difficult for the players to bounce back for those games after a heartbreaking loss to the Immaculata Mustangs by five points in the second round.

"Going into the season we had a goal of qualifying for provincials and while we were hoping to do better than 8th, it was a very successful season," said Haddrell. "It was a great group of kids to coach and I look forward to seeing how they grow as players as they go through Pen High."
