OHA captures two CSSHL championship

Okanagan Hockey Academy squads win prep and bantam prep division Canadian Sport School Hockey League championships

Five different skaters had multi-point nights as Okanagan Hockey Academy White skated to a 6-0 win over the Yale Hockey Academy Sunday afternoon, capturing the 2015 Prep Division Championship for the second consecutive season.

Jordan Bellerive, Hayden Dick, Brendan Semchuk and Taylor Ward each tallied a goal and assist for Okanagan White, which held leads of 3-0 after 20 minutes and 4-0 going into the final frame.

Josh Maser and Maxim Patterson rounded out the Okanagan White attack, each scoring once, while Nolan Hildebrand made 18 saves for the shutout.

In the bantam prep championship, Tanner Bahm and Connor Bouchard each scored twice as the Okanagan Hockey Academy scored three times in the final frame en route to a 5-1 win over the Pursuit of Excellence, capturing the inaugural championship.

Riley Krane also tallied for Okanagan, while Brandon Peacock turned aside 27 shots in net. Max Kryski scored the lone goal for Pursuit, which got 28 saves from netminder Jordan Wilde.

Krane opened the scoring, giving Okanagan a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes, which turned into a 2-1 lead going into the final frame. The Delta Hockey Academy defeated the Edge School for Athletes 9-3 in the Bantam Prep Division third-place game.

In Elite 15s action, Parmjot Dhaliwal scored twice in the third period to complete the comeback as the Yale Hockey Academy captured their second consecutive championship Sunday afternoon with a 3-2 win over the BWC Hockey Academy at the South Okanagan Events Centre.

Logan Bromhead and Angus Crookshank tallied to put Burnaby up 2-0, but a late second period goal off the stick of Bronson Sharp gave Yale some life going into the  third. Braedon Fleming made 29 saves in goal for Yale, while Kolby Matthews turned aside 32 shots in the Burnaby crease.

And in bantam varsity, Garrett Wicks scored the winner with 7:13 remaining in the third period as the Delta Hockey Academy captured the inaugural CSSHL championship with a 3-1 win over the Okanagan Hockey Academy at the OHS Training Centre Sunday.

Cody Hough opened the scoring for Delta, while Buddy Johnson sealed the deal with a late power-play marker. Dexton Mozell scored the lone goal for Okanagan, which got 52 saves from goaltender Adam Evanoff.

Despite Delta holding a 24-5 lead in shots after 20 minutes, the two teams were deadlocked at one, which remained the situation going into the final frame.

Georgi Wilson made 25 saves to earn the victory in goal for Delta.
