The YES Project will benefit from the Gateway Gives promotion this season that will see $20 from each goal scored by the Vees during their home games going to the Futures Start Here - Youth Resource Centre fundraising campaign.

“The alignment between each organization highlights youth in our community and promotes overall wellbeing for the community, youth and families,” said Aaron McRann, executive director of the Community Foundation of the South Okanagan | Similkameen in a news release.

The YES Project is the local non-profit that is in its second phase fundraising campaign to renovate the main floor of the Youth Resource Centre building at 501 Main St. and open Foundry Penticton. Foundry Penticton, operated by OneSky Community Resources, will provide a one-stop-shop for young people to access mental health care, substance use services, primary care, social services and youth and family peer supports. Foundry Penticton is expected to open in the early 2019.

“Through the generosity of Gateway Casinos and their Gateway Gives program, the Vees have been able to join them in their pursuit of a better Penticton. We all felt the time to support the youth of Penticton was now. Each year we have the opportunity to work with dedicated young athletes. We strongly feel that supporting the YES project will afford so many more youth in our community the chance to thrive and chase their dreams, the way our Vees players do,” says David Michaud, director of corporate partnerships — Penticton Vees.

The YES Project will have a table in the concourse during the first home game of the season on Saturday, Sept. 29 with Vees calendar magnets and information about the Youth Resource Centre.
