Adam Eisele scored the overtime winner as the Penticton Vees collected their 9th consecutive win in a 5-4 triumph over the Trail Smoke Eaters on Saturday night at the Trail Memorial Centre.

Scoring was a common theme in the opening period with five goals tallied between the two sides

Before the second period commenced, the Vees were able to get one back and make it a 3-2 game heading into the middle stanza.

As they did all night long, the Vees battled back and forced the game to even terms at 4-4 thanks to Josh Nadeau and his team-leading 29th tally of the season.

With so much scoring in the opening 40 minutes, the teams tightened up defensively in the final period and the game headed to overtime all tied at 4-4 with the Vees outshooting the Smoke Eaters by a 42-23 margin through 60 minutes of action.

After a good stop by Serhyenko at one end, the Vees brought the puck back and took their only lead of the game 1:37 into the extra frame as Adam Eisele played the hero with game winning goal. Eisele was sprung on a break down the right wing side as the Vees forward cut to the net from the face-off circle and beat Dunsford over the glove shoulder for his 8th goal of the season and sealed the Vees victory by a 5-4 score in overtime.

Kaeden Lane turned aside 7 of the 11 shots he faced while Carter Serhyenko came on and stopped all 13 shots thrown his direction in his 3rd win of the season.

The Vees (30-6-0-2) once again head to the Shuswap on Wednesday to take on the Salmon Arm Silverbacks (30-6-2-1) at the Shaw Centre.
