The Penticton Vees earned their seventh consecutive victory with a five-point effort from Luc Wilson helping the Vees to an 8-2 triumph over the Trail Smoke Eaters on Saturday night at the South Okanagan Events Centre on Pink The Rink Night.
It was a full house of 3,005 fans for Pink the Rink and where Vees coach Fred Harbinson tallied his 601st career win as head coach and general manager.
The Vees headed into the second period outshooting the Smoke Eaters by a 14-6 margin before taking over the game in the 2nd period, outshooting Trail by a 26-6 margin and getting ahead by two.
At the 9:25 mark of the middle stanza Penticton pulled away with a 3-0 advantage.
Over two minutes later, Luc Wilson was able to find the back of the net.

The Smoke Eaters got on the scoreboard just 26 seconds into the 3rd period and it came shorthanded when they flipped a shot over the blocker side of Vees goaltender Carter Serhyenko to make it a 4-1 game.
While play was at 4-on-4, Wilson had a breakaway down the right wing, cutting to the goal and lifting a shot over the glove side of Fradette for his 25th goal of the season and his second goal of the night for a 5-1 lead.
Casey McDonald added to the Vees lead on the power play.
With a 5-on-3 power play, Josh Nadeau tallied his 36th goal of the season to give Penticton an 8-1 lead.
The game finished at 8-2 in favour of the Vees.
Carter Serhyenko turned aside 17 of the 19 shots to earn his 7th win of the season while Evan Fradette made 49 saves on 57 shots in his 17th loss of the season.
The Vees (39-7-0-2) will conclude their three-game home stand on Wednesday night in a big battle amongst the top two teams in the Interior Conference as they host the Salmon Arm Silverbacks (34-8-4-1) at the South Okanagan Events Centre. Puck drop is 6:30 p.m.
